Traveling wave tube for millimeter waveband

The traveling wave tube (TWT) for use in the millimeter waveband is an eagerly sought source of electromagnetic radiation for short range radar systems, as well as for advanced recognition systems. Its distinguishing features include: a broad band, a relatively small size and weight, which make these tubes attractive for mobile and airborne applications.

All traveling wave tubes are based on a modified electrodynamic system of winding-type waveguide and allowed low voltage control of the electron beam current. It is  is constructively combined with a magnetic focusing system on permanent magnets.

Ka-band TWT

Ka-band traveling wave tubes (wavelength is about 8 mm) are required sources of electromagnetic radiation both for near-field radar systems and for promising recognition systems. Some distinctive features of Ka-band TWT’s such as wide frequency band, small weight and size make them are very attractive for mobile and air born applications.
